Kanpur District
Kanpur Nagar is an administrative district of Uttar Pradesh with its headquarters located at Kanpur city. Kanpur is a historical city with many sites of tourism importance.
Kanpur is the largest city in Uttar Pradesh and is one of the most important industrial bases in India. The city is sandwiched between two rivers – river Ganga in the North and river Pandu in the South.
Kanpur is the commercial capital Uttar Pradesh with the distinction of producing textile and leather goods in bulk. About 50 Tons of air cargo is generated for leather products
only and this is sent through surface transport to New Delhi and from
New Delhi it is sent to outside India through air cargo. Apart from
leather and textile industry, the fertilizer, chemicals, two wheelers,
soaps, Pan Masala, hosiery and engineering industries are also operating
in the city.

By Rail : Kanpur
is connected to all the major stations of the country by express,
super-fast and passenger trains. Kanpur station is on the main
Delhi-Howrah railway track.
By Road : Kanpur
is well connected by road with all the major cities of the country. It
is situated on National Highway 2 on the Delhi-Agra-Allahabad-Calcutta
route and on National Highway No. 25 on the Lucknow-Jhansi-Shivpuri
route. Buses ply regularly between kanpur and rest parts of the state. Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) operates buses from Kanpur to various centres in the region, such as Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Agra, Unnao, Rae Bareilly, Kannauj and Jhansi.
