Meerut District
Meerut is an important administrative district of Uttar Pradesh with headquarters at Meerut city. The district is bounded on the north by district Muzaffarnagar, on the south by Bulandshahar district and on the west by district Baghpat. River Ganga forms its eastern boundary and separates it from the districts of Moradabad and Bijnore.
Meerut city, the district
headquarter is an army cantonment and is located north-east of New
Delhi, the national capital. Meerut is the largest manufacturer of
musical instruments and is one of the main business centres in Uttar Pradesh with new high rise shopping complexes, apartment buildings
and businesses centres. There are some 36 industrial units situated in
the city limit which include large and medium scale industries.

How to Reach
By Rail : The main line of the Northern Railway (Delhi-Meerut-Saharanpur) passes through the city. All important trains take halt at Meerut station.
By Road : Good
metalled roads also radiate from Meerut and on the south-west lead to
Ghaziabad and Delhi, on the west to Baghpat, on the north-west to
Sardhana and on the north to Muzaffarnagar.
