Muzaffarnagar District

Muzaffarnagar is located at northern part of the state of Uttar Pradesh with headquarters at Muzaffarnagar city. The district forms a portion of division Saharanpur. Muzaffarnagar is surrounded by the districts of Meerut on the South and Saharanpur on the North. On the west, the river Jamuna separates it from the Panipat district and Thaneswar tehsil of the Karnal district of Haryana; and on the east the river Ganges forms the boundary between this district and the Bijnor tehsil of the district of same name.

Muzaffarnagar is an industrial city of Uttar Pradesh. The city is famous for its jaggery market which is claimed to be the largest such market in Asia.

The district is well connected by road and railway network. National Higway-58 passes through the city. The city lies in the middle of the Delhi-Dehradoon Highway. The nearby cities are New Delhi, Dehra Dun, Saharanpur and Mussoorie.
