Pratapgarh District

The Pratapgarh district is a part of Faizabad division. The headquarters of the district is the town Bela Pratabgarh. The district was constituted in 1858.

The district is bounded on the north by district Sultanpur, on the south by district Allahabad, on the east by district Jaunpur and on the west by Fatehpur and north-east by district Rae Bareli. In the south-west the Ganga forms the boundary of the district for about 50 km. separating it from Fatehpur and Allhabad and in the extreme north-east the Gomti forms the boundary for about 6 km.
